Immigration policies and practices are changing rapidly. Many people in our community are concerned or scared. Our goal is to ensure that Sunnyvale remains a place where everyone feels welcome, safe and respected. While immigration is not within the City’s purview, the Sunnyvale City Council is committed to the values of inclusivity, diversity, and public service.

We also stand firm in our responsibility to protect the safety, well-being and dignity of everyone who calls Sunnyvale home, including immigrants and refugees. To that end, Sunnyvale’s Public Safety Department does not actively participate in the enforcement of federal immigration laws, which are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
