SOGIE 101 (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression) Training
Held: March 11

In collaboration with the Sunnyvale Library, we hosted LGBTQ Wellness. Community members came together for Allyship Training - SOGIE 101. The training provided an introduction to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Participants explored personal and institutional biases. They learned inclusive and respectful practices, and gained practical tools to support others. The session was part of our ongoing efforts to foster a welcoming Sunnyvale. These efforts strive to support a community where everyone belongs and feels valued.

United Against Hate Week Event - Sharing Their Stories: United for Disability and Climate Justice
Held: Oct. 27
In collaboration with the City's Sustainability Commission, we hosted Daphne Frias, a disability and climate justice organizer, who joined us to discuss how disability rights and climate justice are connected, and how we can all be part of the solution to achieving our climate goals through a new lens.

Community members gathered for an inspiring event featuring the LGBTQ Youth Spaces Speakers Bureau, where LGBTQ+ speakers shared powerful personal stories that fostered connection and empathy.

Immigrant Experience Storytelling Circles
Held: Sept. 29 
Community members came together to share powerful personal stories of immigration, resilience, and triumph. The Human Relations Commission plans to expand these storytelling circles in partnership with community organizations in the future. 

Unity and Belonging through Allyship and Accountability
Held: Sept. 25 and 26
During United Against Hate Week (UAHW), Whitney Parnell, Founder and CEO of Service Never Sleeps (SNS), conducted a comprehensive free training on allyship. It centered on bridge-building to pursue social justice for everyone. 

Immigrant Experience Storytelling Circles Workshop
Held: Sept. 19
EAI Manager, Fernanda Perdomo-Arciniegas, guided an hour-long session to help participants develop their immigrant story for the Immigrant Experience Storytelling Circles. The workshop helped participants explore their stories and narratives to foster understanding and build cognitive empathy within our communities. 

LGBTQ+ Listening Forum: In collaboration with the Santa Clara County Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs
Held: Sept. 4
In collaboration with the County of Santa Clara Office of LGBTQ Affairs, Division of Equity and Social Justice, held the LGBTQ+ Listening Session at the Sunnyvale Library. These sessions aimed to identify needs and collected feedback from the LGBTQ+ community. We shared resources and available programs for the community.

Six Steps for Responding to Everyday Bigotry

A workshop featuring small group activities aimed at tackling bigotry. Included real-life scenarios to help respond to instances of hate in our community.

Countering Antisemitism and Islamophobia at Home in the Shadow of A Foreign Crisis
Held: Thursday, Nov. 16
An event held in conjunction with the Islamic Network Group. Aimed to educated people on the topics of Antisemitism and Islamophobia.

An in-person intercultural panel discussion with small group dialogues, to examine bigotry. Included a call to action to explore solutions and strengthen our diverse community.

Solidarity Vigil

A candlelight vigil held during United Against Hate Week to stand against racism, bigotry and intolerance.
