Swim lessons are currently only offered in the summer.

Group Classes

Classes are available for a wide range of skill levels, including:

• Parent-and-tot classes for infants and toddlers and their parents or guardians
• Water safety and basic strokes for beginners
• Stroke improvement, endurance and survival skills for more advanced swimmers

Student-to-Instructor Ratios

Our classes have the following student-to-instructor ratios:

• Parent and Tot: 7 to 1
• Tiny Tots (Starfish and Clownfish): 4 to 1
• Level 1A (Sea Turtle), Level 1B (Penguins) and Level 1C (Narwhal): 5 to 1
• Level 2 (Dolphin), Level 3 (Orcas), Level 4 (Tiger Sharks), Teen, Adult: 6 to 1

Swim Lesson Registration Requirements

• Children must be at the appropriate age on the first day of class. No exceptions.
• Parents should register their child for the appropriate level based on their skills. For help determining a child’s swim level, email us.
• If the student does not meet the minimum class requirements on the first day of class, they may transfer to the appropriate level (if space is available). Or be issued a refund.
• Classes will not be overbooked to accommodate a child registered in the incorrect level.
• Children may only be registered for one class per session.
• Children progress at different rates and may need to take more than one session to pass a level.
• Children in diapers must wear a swim diaper under their swimsuit during class. No exceptions.
• Classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment will be canceled. You will be notified and given the opportunity to register for an available call or receive a full refund.

Recreational swimming is open to all ages on a first-come, first-served basis. Capacity based on staffing resources on the day.

Fees

Each person entering the facility must pay the following fee:

• $5 residents
• $6 non-residents

You may pay at the pool by cash or credit card.

Lifeguards are an essential part of keeping our aquatic facilities safe year-round. Get trained and then get paid to be a lifeguard for Sunnyvale Aquatics.

Junior Lifeguard Program

For ages 13 to 15

Junior Lifeguard Training Camp -- teaches teens water safety and basic rescue skills. It is a prerequisite for the Job Shadow camp. Training is offered once during the summer season.

Junior Lifeguard Job Shadow -- teens help with swim lessons. They also protect swimmers, alongside City lifeguards.

Job shadow participant benefits:

• Gain confidence and leadership skills
• Receive coaching and mentoring from City employees
• Earn volunteer hours at the pool

Lifeguard Training

For age 15 and up

Offered in spring and summer seasons. Become a lifeguard with the training and certification in lifeguarding, first aid and CPR needed for the professional rescuer. Classes are also available for lifeguards who need to renew their certification.
