The following is required for your visit:

• A valid driver's license showing proof of residency is required
• Or, a business license showing proof of operating location
• Ensure all open loads are covered and secured. Per Sunnyvale Municipal Code 8.16.160, a fee of $15 will be charged for uncovered loads and a tarp will be issued.

Rates are determined by type of material disposed, per cubic yard or per large item.

The following items are accepted at no charge from eligible residents and businesses. See Services Eligibility table above.

California Redemption Value (CRV) is paid on eligible bottles and cans by count (up to 50) or by weight.

• CRV eligible containers of different material types must be sorted prior to arrival (such as glass, plastic, aluminum). Sorting is not allowed on-site.
• Containers must be emptied of liquids prior to arrival. Emptying liquids at the SMaRT Station is prohibited.
• The CRV Buy-back Center encourages appointments:
  • Schedule an appointment online or call 408-752-8530.
  • Appointments available between 8 a.m. and *4:45 p.m., seven days a week.
    *This is the last appointment before Center closes at 5 p.m.
  • Walk-ins are also welcome.

Reverse Vending Machines (RVM)

Deposit your bottles and cans into the machine. Receive funds in your online account.

Furniture and other items in good condition rescued from the garbage and recycling areas of the SMaRT Station are placed in the Reuse Trailer for customers to take home at no charge.

We can't accept donations to the Reuse Trailer. Use How to Get Rid of Anything to find disposal options.

Compost and mulch are available year-round to residents of Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Cupertino.

• Limit 200 gallons per week. Bring your own shovel and containers.
• Compost is made from local yard waste and is certified organic by the US Composting Council. It is processed in Gilroy at Z-Best Composting.
• The mulch is natural 1"-3" wood pieces made from local woody material.
• The available supply of compost and mulch can vary.

The SMaRT Station is a Materials Recovery Facility and features advanced equipment to sort and bale recyclable materials. To schedule a group tour, call 408-752-8530.

Safety Instructions

You must:

• Wear close-toed shoes. No sandals or heels.
• Wear pants. No loose-fitting clothes.
• Use the stairs and handrails.

We provide hard hat, safety glasses and vest.

NOTE: This facility uses large magnets which may interfere with medical devices.

Parking

The main office parking lot has limited parking spots. Carpooling is encouraged.

Additional parking is along the east-bound road towards Stevens Creek Quarry.
