We are reviewing the following potential improvements:

• Renovation of the recreation building
• Energy-efficient park lighting
• Water play area improvements
• Assessment and resurfacing of the four tennis courts
• Ornamental creek and pond improvements
• Athletic grass field and irrigation improvements (we won’t use synthetic turf)
• New or repaired picnic tables, benches, garbage bins and BBQ grills
• Concrete pathway repairs
• Public Wi-Fi
• Electric vehicle charging stations
• Stormwater and drainage improvements

Report to Council 26-0417, June 16, 2026 - Award of a Contract to Verde Design, Inc. in the Amount of $1,283,158 for Design and Construction Support Services for the Serra Park Renovation and Enhancement Project and Approve Budget Modification No. 20 in the Amount of $424,439 (F25-436)

Serra Park is a 12-acre park in south Sunnyvale, built in 1965. The riverboat theme includes a manmade stream running through the eastern side. There are also picnic areas, playgrounds, water features and sports fields and courts. A new restroom building was added in 2022.

Many other features have not been updated for decades. Our project goal is to assess and improve aging park features. Funding is provided by the Park Dedication Fee. This fee is paid by land developers to improve parks and recreational facilities. This project will update amenities to support current and future use.
