Eligible contractors can use SolarAPP+ for instantaneous rooftop solar permitting in the City of Sunnyvale.

What is SolarAPP+

SolarAPP+ (Solar Automated Permit Processing) is an automated online application. It’s for instantaneous permitting of new residential rooftop photovoltaic (solar) installation projects.

Using SolarApp+ offers these benefits:

  • Lower your costs, includes three free revisions
  • Speeds up installation process with instant permitting once you've completed the application

Get automated review through SolarApp+

If you are a licensed contractor or installer, you may register for a new SolarAPP+ account.

  1. Sign into your account or register with SolarApp+
  2. Follow the online instructions to submit your design through SolarApp+ to get pre-approval.
  3. Pay their $25 processing fee.
  4. Download the approved plans.

Get a Sunnyvale Business License

Anyone engaging in or carrying on any business in Sunnyvale must have a business license from the City.

Apply for a Permit

  1. Apply for a Photovoltaic (SolarAPP+) permit online at E-OneStop Online Services. (If needed, find Online Services Help)
  2. Upload SolarApp+ approved plans.
  3. Pay for the permit.
  4. Print out the permit card for the inspections.

Schedule an Inspection

After you finish your project, log in to your E-OneStop Online Services account (above). Select "Request for inspection."
