Starting August 17th, 2026, all permit applicants will create a Waste Management Plan through a unique link. This link will have basic project information like site address, square footage and permit number automatically added to the Waste Management Plan.

Follow our step-by-step instructions to access the link and submit your Waste Management Plan.

Step 1: Apply for a Sunnyvale Building Permit

Visit our Online Permit Center.

As soon as your Permit Application has been processed, a Green Halo project will be created for you. An invitation for the project will be sent to the email address that your provided in your Permit Application.

Step 2: Accept your Green Halo Project Invitation

Find your Green Halo New Project invitation in your email inbox (check Spam and Junk folders). The email will have the subject line, "Green Halo Registration Confirmation."

Create a Waste Management Plan on your own if you can't find the email.

Step 3: Create and Submit Your Waste Management Plan

Follow the directions in Green Halo. Click "next" until you reach a page where you can click "start project." Click "start project" to officially submit your Waste Management Plan to the City.
