Update 7/21/25:  The labor dispute and related work stoppage between Republic Services and the Teamsters has concluded. Services have returned to normal in the affected cities.  

Several Bay Area cities, including Fremont, Union City and San José, are experiencing garbage collection delays due to a labor strike. Sunnyvale is not impacted by this disruption.

Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling provides our waste collection services. These include garbage, recycling, food scraps, green waste and bulky items collection. Continue to follow your normal collection schedule and set out procedures.

The City is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
