Join us for a screening of the classic Chinese-Hong Kong movie Farewell My Concubine, starring Leslie Cheung, Zhang Fengyi and Gong Li.

Cheng Dieyi (Leslie Cheng) and Duan Xiaolou (Zhang Fengyi) grow up enduring the harsh training of the Peking Opera Academy. As the two boys mature, they develop complementary talents: Dieyi assumes the female roles while Xiaolou plays masculine warlords. When Xiaolou marries a courtesan, Juxian (Gong Li), Dieyi becomes jealous, creating an explosive romantic triangle.

Farewell My Concubine has won 24 awards and 12 other nominations, including:

This movie is rated R by the MPAA for language and strong depiction of thematic material. It has a runtime of 2 hours 51 minutes. It will be presented with Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles. The screening will take place in the Program Room. Registration is not required, but seating is first come, first served.
