Approval is requested for the award of a contract to Atlas Heating and Air Conditioning Company, Inc., of Sunnyvale to furnish and install a replacement heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system at the Community Center.

The existing HVAC system on the roof of the Recreation Building is original equipment from the 1972 construction of that facility. The expected life of the system was 15 years; and at 27 years old, it now needs to be replaced.

Bid specifications were developed by Building Services and Purchasing staff, and five local contractors were notified that Invitation for Bids #F9902-65 was available via the SunDIAL fax on demand feature.

Three bids were received:

Total cost to the City will be $39,116 (tax included). Funds are available in Capital Project Account #818450-5115.

It is recommended that Council award a contract in the amount of $39,116 to Atlas Heating and Air Conditioning Company, Inc., of Sunnyvale to furnish and install a replacement HVAC system at the Community Center and authorize the Purchasing Officer to issue a purchase order to that effect.
